The Importance of Creativity – Explore your Right Brain Today!

I lost a family member a few days ago and needless to say I am very disturbed. I am also getting some time to think, reflect and ponder on the state of our lives and I’ve come to the conclusion that we surround ourselves with too many unnecessary things, we worry about unimportant things and we stress about trifles. All this time that we spend worrying is wasted. It leads to nothing but negativity, hurt, confusion and stress.

Instead we should focus on people, family and relationships. We should take the time to smell the flowers and be compassionate and understanding to everyone around us. We should spend time making an impact on people’s lives and building relationships. This can be done with a smile, a handmade card, time spent baking cookies together or making memories!

Our bodies and souls are important too. Many a time we ignore what our bodies are trying to tell us. We keep on going. We keep on living life the way we think we should and not the way we dream we will one day. We should focus on our internal well being and our spiritual wellness. We should make sure we take time to nourish our souls, through creativity.

Make a list of what your dream day would look like. Now make a list of what your current day looks like. Try and do something small everyday to move towards the life of your dreams! Why wait? With small steps everyday you’ll be surprised at the amount of progress you can make in a week, a month and a year. Taking small steps towards a big goal is better than doing nothing. Did you want to take a yoga class, start reading poetry, launch your photography business or take an online art class? Make the time today to add a little change in your life. Let this be the start of the life you always dreamed you would have. Don’t wait for tomorrow when we can start today!

I would love to hear from you in the comments below. Please share with me 3 things that you have been wanting to do/change in your life. Which one of these things will you be doing today?

    Hi MZ;
    I can’t get into the class again. I must be a bad case of something. I appreciate your help. Thank you so much.

    I feel so silly like I go backwards — I can’t get into the course again. You fix it and I mess it up. Can you help me in again? Please…

    These reminders are so important to keep on track. Thank you! I am making some small changes by cooking more with organic produce, planting a small orchard in the garden for year round fruit, and getting rid of clutter that no longer serves me.

    I remember the day I decided to stop and smell the flowers. I was facing the possibility of colon cancer and rectal bleeding. After four days and two pints of blood I found out it was meds I was on. I thanked God as I had four sons not all grown yet. I’m sorry for your loss but glad you are finding time to smell the flowers too! Isn’t it wonderful? Nance

    I am new to zentangling. I have been doing it for maybe around a year. However, I have tried doing it with a pen and then a pencil. I have found I draw much more steady lines with a pencil than with a pen. Will I ever get to where I will draw better with a pen? Also, with pen drawings is wise practice to spray fix-it over our artwork to prevent fading like we do with pencil drawings?

      Ofcourse you will! All it takes is practice. Just stop using the pencil and keep using your pen. We all start with unsteady lines and get better from there. I have never used a fixative on my tangle and haven’t seen anyone else do it either. I think the micron pens are quite good quality.
