I recently went in for a surgery that required quite an extensive period of bed rest. This is something that doesn’t come naturally to me, staying stationary and so in the weeks leading up to the surgery I tried to come up with ways to make the house arrest more bearable. I came up with a list of personal development books I had been wanting to read and kept them by my bedside waiting for me to come home.
The surgery happened – everything went well, though it was much longer than expected and I came home. The first week is a blur, with me drifting in and out of sleep and dealing with quite a fair amount of pain. By the second week I was ready to get back to work but unfortunately my doctors and my body did not agree. So I looked to my books for comfort.
I had been reading and talking about vision boards a lot and had always wanted to make one. I thought the New Year would be the best time for that. To get motivated. So I read a couple of guides on how to create vision boards and the entire philosophy of creating a collage out of images that spoke to you made a lot of sense to me. I also truly believed that if I saw those images every day fate would find a way for me to bring those images and the thoughts they represented, into my life. This is the same philosophy that we find behind positive affirmations. Saying a mantra again and again will help to make it come true. This is where my journey started – vision boards and positive affirmations.
I then moved on to something that came recommended from Amazon – a book called Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. This book has been life changing for me. It gave me all the missing pieces in my planning routine, in keeping me positive and happy and turning me into a morning person.
Now reading all of this you will probably think I’m bluffing or the book is a miracle. Well I’m not bluffing and the book is a miracle if you’re open to the message and willing to do the work. The main concept behind the Miracle Morning is basically taking the start of the day into your own hands. Making sure you have a great fulfilling morning so that sets the tune for the whole day. Ever heard of someone getting out of the wrong side of the bed? Well, there is a right one too and that’s what you do in the Miracle Morning routine.

I am still making my way towards a routine that I can stick to but armed with the vision boards, positive affirmations and miracle morning routine I came up with a new way to plan my day. I also came up with a new way to plan. Using a ‘Vision Planner’ in conjunction with my daily planner to make sure I stay focused and take one step every day to the goals I have set for myself and the life of my dreams.
Since the bed rest really got to me I had a lot of time to plan this entire concept and I came up with a class where you can make your own vision planner.
